High speed inductive position sensor for E-machines

This paper presents a new inductive resolver solution, based on a newly developed interface integrated circuit with Sine/Cosine output: the MLX90510. This sensor interface is based on a 3-phase coil approach and uses smart digital signal processing to reach a high accuracy of ±0.36° el. up to 240’000 e-rpm and, and achieve ASIL-C automotive safety integrity level. The solution offers also a linearization feature to compensate for extra errors coming from mechanical tolerances.
